My Greater Siren Darwin. He's 16 inches long. He's like my aquatic puppy, always sniffing around and getting into trouble. I think he's so beautiful I wanted to share :)

Coming up for air.

I believe the greater siren is a member of the salamander family, looks very similar to a mud puppy salamander as well.

Greater Siren:

The greater siren (Siren lacertina) is an eel-like amphibian. The largest of the Sirens, they can grow from 48 centimetres (19 in) to 97 centimetres (38 in) in length. They range in color from black to brown, and have a lighter gray or yellow underbelly.

Mudpuppy:

Mudpuppies or waterdogs are aquatic salamanders of the family Proteidae. Their name originates from the misconception that they make a dog-like barking sound.[1][2] Their range runs from southern central Canada, through the midwestern United States, east to North Carolina and south to Georgia and Mississippi.[3]

Axolotl:

The axolotl ( /ˈæksəlɒtəl/), Ambystoma mexicanum, is a neotenic salamander, closely related to the Tiger Salamander. Larvae of this species fail to undergo metamorphosis, so the adults remain aquatic and gilled. It is also called ajolote (which is also a common name for different types of salamander).[1] The species originates from numerous lakes, such as Lake Xochimilco underlying Mexico City.[2] Axolotls are used extensively in scientific research due to their ability to regenerate limbs.

Strange...but beautiful! I've never seen one. The pet store that I frequent had mudpuppies once. I was very tempted.
