Elsa is my young Hermann's- "probably" about 3 years old.

When I got her on November 6th she weighed 9.45 oz and was 4.5 inches long. By December 6th her weight was 12.6 oz and today (1 month later) she's 13.8 oz. She seems to be 5 inches long now (a little hard to get that exactly because she wiggles so). Does all this seem OK? I'm a little puzzled that she gained 3 oz the first month I had her and only 1 oz the following month. Also, can they really gain a half inch in length in just 2 months?

I dont know anything about your species, but as long as she is gaining weight and growing that is good.

It's entirely possible that she has trained you to feed her on command...and by using that most cunning of tortoise-tactics, the "Oh please feed me, Mommy, my stomach think's my throat's been cut" sad eyes gambit.

Torts are practical like that... :p

Sounds like things are going great.

Thanks for the feedback! We do tend to worry over little things, don't we?
