Marking on redfoot

This is Littlefoot (aka morla). I have had her since July. I bought her with the marking on her shell knowing other buyers might not buy her because of it. The seller explained it was some sort of genetic thing. I have raised all sorts of turtles even hatching them. Never had tortoises. Now that I moved from Minnesota to San Diego though I would get some tortoises. Any insight on the marking would be great, special care, nothing to worry about.

If I'm seeing what you're trying to show us, it is merely called a split scute. There's absolutely nothing wrong with it. Happens every so often and is just cosmetic. Some of us prefer the "different" look. Personally if I had a choice between a perfect specimen and one with split or extra scutes, I'd choose the split every time.
