Hi,

I've noticed that my 2 year old Hermanns makes grunting noises intermittently. Its usually when he gets a treat, like a grape or blueberry. He gets really into eating it and starts grunting. Its this because he's happy or eating too quickly? He only get treat on special occasions and there's no grunting at any other time. He stared grunting today when eating a blueberry so I took it off him and I'd swear he gave me a dirty look ? but the grunting stopped.

Thanks.20201221_151316.jpg

They sometimes make a hissy sound in between bites and when swallowing food if that what your witnessing? Aslong as he’s not showing any abnormal signs (runny nose, lethargy etc) then I doubt it’s anything to worry about:)

That could be it. It happens when he's wolfing something nice down! He's showing no signs of distress or being unwell. Thanks for your reply.

Yes.
This is not a species that can process sugars.
As you've seen. That doesn't mean they won't eat fruit. Just that they definitely shouldn't.
