I have two Russians (posted on here before) and have seperate enclosures for them (finally) and my newest member sleeps pretty much non stop. She'll come out to eat daily and eats about 1/2 what my other Tort does. Then back to sleep either in a Log hide or back corner of the enclosure and dug down into a corner. Is this normal?

Also - Humidity has been around 40%....should that be higher for Russians???

(have a solid 4" of substrate through out the pen, and I mist it once a week)

It is the time of year, with cooler temps and shorter days, that tells their bodies to shut down for hibernation. It affects some of them more than others. Warming and brightening things up will sometimes snap them out if it, sometimes not. Soaking 4-5 times a week with warm shallow water will often tell their body to wake up and eat normally.

I think 40% humidity is fine for adults if there is damp substrate to burrow into, and a humid hide.
