LOST TORTOISE

About an hour ago, I left my tortoise outside for thirty minutes while doing yard work. When I returned to his outdoor cage, I noticed he was gone. He is about a year old, four inches long, and a desert tortoise. It seems he might have escaped through a small opening in the cage. Any advice would be helpful. Thank you.

Look under all things, feel, don't just look. Inform and close neighbors of his disappearance and to please watch for him. He will hunker down for the night around sunset so he sure to look first thing in the morning when the sun comes out.
If you don't find him by tomorrow, inform local vets, rescues and pet stores.
