Looking for the right tortoise

Hello!! My name is Rebecca and I was a tortoise lover and owner growing up. But now, living in New England, I am having trouble finding the best places to purchase a tortoise. I'm also weary of online sites because there are too many scammers now a days. How did everyone first purchase their tortoises and from where? Just looking to be pointed in the right direction!! What type of tortoise are you looking for? There are many great breeders that I can recommend but most stick to a specific species

I am leaning towards a Hermanns tortoise or a Russian tortoise due to living in Vermont

I live in Massachusetts. I just got a eastern hermann's tortoise from Arizona tortoise compound. Also Southern reptile in FL is really good.
