I have a sulcata who is quickly approaching 5lbs and I want to build him/her a permanent out door enclosure in the next week or so. I need advice on the parameter. Im thinking about using 10 inch tall boards as walls.. but my question is should I bury any thing below the wall like another board or bricks or something? So she cant dig out. What are you guys doing for your enclosures?

you can use paver stones as the base.. or green board. Cinder blocks work well too. make sure she has a nice secure hide and she probably wont dig..

What I do for my Russians is to dig a trench about 8" to a foot deep then fill it with concrete. As the concrete is setting I lay a 2" x 10" piece of lumber on each of the 4 sides and use outdoor wood screws to connect the corners.

For larger species, I would go higher with the wood sides. 12" minimum for a start, then you can go higher as your tort grows.

Good luck.
