My fiancee and I decied it was time to move to somewhere with a lil more space, we found a town house with a back deck, and a small back yard.

After realizing the back yard had been fertilized, we decided the best way for livingstone to get exercise, and outdoor time (safely) was to turn the back deck into an exercise yard.

So here are some updated pictures of livingstone, and her new exercise pen.

This is the face of somebody who wants to tort around outside

I, too, used my deck for the same reasons. I used the low, plastic "boot trays" that you can get at Home Depot or the Dollar store as a water source[easy access and easy clean] and separated a small dog crate--the bottom I filled with substrate for digging and just put the top on the deck for a "clean, areated hide". It wasn't quite "tort heaven" but Morty was always "happy" in his "summer condo".

Very cute! However, your plant is Haworthia, not aloe!

Nicely done. That'll work... for a while.

Hopefully it'll hold her til next summer. Then the yard will be ready.

ITs already getting cooler here in Northern Virginia, so her outside time is limited to the hours its above 75 deg. Anytime its lower than that she's on her table, where I can control the temps.

She such a baby, she wouldn't know what to do, considering her night temps are 77.5 in the burrow on the table.

:)

Hmmm... you have a smooth tortoise who sleeps all night in a warm humid burrow... I'm starting to see a pattern here...

... a pattern of smooth growth!

That is too funny, thanks for pointing it out. That plant is ancient, it has been residing inside at a lake house in upstate NY. It belonged to my fiancee's grandfather, rest in peace. Everybody up there used it as aloe, meaning that when they got a sunburn they took a leaf and rubbed it on the burn... When I told about your post, she and I both laughed, talk about a placebo effect.
