Like Planes?? Meced Calif. Castle Air Force Base

The Giants are back! A Huge gathering of model planes and those who love them and fly them. Gas and Electric. My dad, Jim Collin is famous with his electrics. The biggest ever built and flown!! This even will be helpd over the Memorail Weekend at Castle Airforce Base in Atwater Merced calif. There is a museum as well.
My dad has cancer.. his treatments have not gone well.. this may be his last event.. he is going and wants to absorb every moment.. we are going to try to make it extra special for him and have him honored. Instead of remembered after the fact...
He has Multiple Myloma...its winning.. :-(
Its been tough and only going to get harder..

anyway.. if anyone loves planes.. this is the even for you and yours!!

My dad is under care with Stanford clsoe by. Specialists are all on board..
My dad is a genious when it comes to building things. He has a mind that is amazing..
He could solve the worlds problems.. its amazing how his mind works.. it will be ahuge loss for many..
Im a daddys girl.. so it will be XXX hard.. lost my mom 4 years ago and never thought we would be doing this again..
I have 3 sisters, so support is good.. but.. heavy sigh...

I wish the best for your dad. I hope he isnt in to much pain. I havent seen him in a couple years now. He is a great guy and well liked by a lot of people. I have experienced many of his projects over the years. I have been involved with R/C since 1983 when i learned at the age of 6. I now fly competitively in R/C Pylon racing all throughout the West Coast. I still fly at Morgan Hill occasionally with some of his good friends such as Dave Wilbur, Lynsel Miller and Reggie De Aquila. My dad new Jim real well. It is sad that many of the "old Timers" are fading away and the art that my dad and others like Jim have had over the years. Most of everything that is built these days comes pre-assembled from China. I wish the best for your dad. If you are ever interested in getting involved with the local turtle club, let me know. I grew up in Palo Alto.. but now live in the Foothills above Sac. I get your newsletter..
My dad is on meds to control the discomfort.. docs say it will get worse. :-(
You should try to make it to Castle. Reggie and the gang are all going.
Do you recall the one plane my dad built that had the Old model Truck to haul it out onto the runway?
I have that truck in my living room..
Some of my dads planes are on display at the San Carlos Flight museum.. His detail he puts into his planes is amzing.. and the fact they are so big and Electric blows people away!
