Hi everyone,

Wondering if anyone can recommend a light for my tortoise’s enclosure that is purely to provide extra light, not heat or UV?

Preferably something small that doesn’t require a lot of room, just something that can provide a bit of extra light for his enclosure.

Any suggestions welcome!

Thank you

LEDs work well for this application. There are many types and all of them work. I use under cabinet mount style ones in some of my enclosures, and regular screw-in bulb type ones in other enclosures. Get bulbs in the 5000-6500K color range for this purpose. Most bulbs are in the 2000-2500K range and those look yellowish. This makes the tortoise think it's dusk. There are many ways to go about this and all of them can work. Any hardware store will have what you need, and you can plug it in to the same timer as your basking bulb.

That’s amazing, thank you so much! Do you happen to have any links to the lights you mentioned you use in your enclosures, by any chance?

We personally use the white python led strip lighting but I’m not sure how much room you’re working with. We like their design though🐢💚

No. I just buy whatever I find at the store and things are always changing.
