Bloom April 10.jpg

One of my succulents, though not a cactus. First bloom since I bought it as a wee bitty plant in 2011.

04-18-14 b.jpg 04-18-14 a.jpg Nothing can compare to the blooms on the Cereus peruvianus. They're big, bold and beautiful. I put my hand in the picture so you can get an idea of how big they are:

Ok, I 'upload file' then clicked 'full image'

This time it worked great, but the other time, I had two images to upload so I must have messed up somehow posting two.

Most of what I grow have yellow blooms, then white blooms, then some shade of purple. I have some that have never bloomed, would love to get a deep red bloomer.

@Len Im not sure where abouts you live but in most areas they have cactus and succulent society groups that have plant sales and they can tell you what kind of bloom you will get with whatever cactus you may purchase

I'm just a hop skip and a jump southeast of Washington DC and it gets very cold and wet here, I have found quite a few opuntia that will survive our winters planted in the ground with no protection from the cold, but no red blooms YET. I have some cholla's (spelling) that are doing fine but no blooms ,maybe soon, maybe red.
