Lazy or unhealthy?

Hi, my RT seems very lazy. She burrows every night to sleep and doesn't come out until noon. When she comes out, she mostly basks on the heating spot (on the rock), only when she eats she will roam to the cold end for food and then goes back to back. I put her on to the lawn for one hour yesterday and she seems very tired and sleep all day today. She is 4.5 inch. I am posting my indoor enclosure here. Is she sick or just lazy? What should I do to let her do more exercise? Thanks.ImageUploadedByTortoise Forum1428466264.261680.jpgImageUploadedByTortoise Forum1428466287.163329.jpg

What are your four temps? Warm side, cool side, basking area and over night low?
What species?
What is in all those light hoods? Are you using a coil type UV bulb? Those can sometimes burn their eyes and make them want to hide from the burning light.

Thanks Tom. I guess she is Russian tortoise, but I have no idea of her subspecies. Can you tell? ImageUploadedByTortoise Forum1428467490.562234.jpgWarm side 80, cool side 70, basking area 95-100. Over night drops to 68. Heating bulb is All living things 50 W. Yes, the UVB is coil type. You have any suggestion?

Temps sound good. I would kill the coil bulb ASAP. That might be your issue. Use a long tube type or a Mercury Vapor Bulb instead.

I would also build a much larger enclosure. 4x8' minimum for indoors and even larger outdoors.

Russian for sure. I have no idea about the subspecies. That is a topic of much debate.
