Now the weather finally gets a little better here in So Cal for me to do some photoshooting of my newly accquired Hermanns Tortoises. They came from one of the member on the forum and were shipped all the way from S.Carolina to S.California.

Just soaked the pair in the luke warm water, and now they are sunbathing in the open ground...

This is the male tortoise, Ronnie, about 4 years old...

A Red-Hat Mustache Plumber just came by, and both of them got stomped over...(Hermanni on the left and Ronnie on the right)

Now both of them are done with sunbathing, and start wakling back toward their now home...

Ronnie rushed ahead to get closer look of the mysterious habitat...and left Hermanni behind by herself...

Great post and great pics. I'm falling more and more in love with the Hermann's every day.

Tell that plumber to watch out for any random large gorillas running around.

Just before the pair of the Hermanns arrived at my place, I spent over a weekend to reinnvoate an existing outdoor hatbiat to make them more suitable for the new comers.

Aftern a couple days of observation, the two Hermanns seemed to be doing just fine with their new habiat...they eat together, sleep together, and sunbath together. But as the weather gets warmer, Ronnie might start chasing after Hermanni and injure her during the process. To prevent this from happening, I had also built a smaller habitat right next to the Lodge. I used a Rubbermaid container and transform it into a little nice habiat where I can put Ronnie in by itself for the safety of Hermanni...

The Rubbermaid container with a plexi roof and a heat lamp as a heatsource during the winter season...

The lamp can be removed to reveal the interior...

An outdoor extension is added to the Rubbermaid container...

Since I just started this project, more feature will be added to this habitat later...but for now, I will take my time to enjoy the presence of the two Hermanns and the others with my 18-months old daughter, she is also so thrilled with the new tortoises... ^_^

Very nice set us and actually very much like a little slice of Hermann's natural habitat.
You may want to move the "swimming pool" out of the greenhouse so that it doesn't become a hot tub instead! In the direct sunlight the water will become to hot for them to want to drink it.
