one of my tortoises has slight redness, swelling and moisture only in one eye. Other eye is fine. Active, eating well, no other signs or symptoms. Could it be due to physical trauma - like he bumped into something or got poked?
Thanks

Hi can you post pictures of your torts eye and his enclosure?
There could be something in there affecting his eye.

You mentioned he is one of your tortoises - are they housed separately and what substrate are you using?
The more information you can give about living environment the easier it is to pin down a cause.

When its just one eye, it is usually trauma of some sort. Dusty dry substrate, sand, sharp ends of cypress mulch, any type of stick or debris in an outside enclosure, injury from another tortoise, etc...

I suspect the same. Last week there was an unusually warm day so i left him out to get sunlight. Lots of dry leaves and twigs so i think he got poked.
To answer Lyn, they are housed separate, since the other is much larger.
