A little bit isn't going to hurt him. Purslane is high in oxalates and shouldn't be fed every day, but a taste now and then won't hurt him.

Mine has also eaten it. All of them have at different times. Funny thing is that it grows wild in the yard, even along the edges of my driveway and along my sidewalk and paver stones. but if I try to plant it to grow in my tortoise garden, it always dies!?

Lol that's funny it dies where you want it to grow?! My Bubbles makes me nervous, he seems to be attracted to potentially toxic plants! He once nibbled a Chameleon plant. And I feed him plenty trust me! He's growing a cm a month for pete's sake! He just samples EVERY. THING.

Puslane grows in just about any soil but prefers drier soils.
However, it doesn't like to compete, so if you're trying to grow it where other plants are already established it may not grow.
Possibly the tortoises prevent it from growing or eat it.
