Is this safe? has anyone used this before?

I live in canada so substrate is a little hard to come by. I'm just wondering if anyone has used this one before or can let me know what they think:

it says colour enhanced but when I check the product information it says it's non toxic and made with 100% forest products. Thoughts?

Scares me. Look for orchid bark or coconut coir.

I agree, I would look for something else. Even the "color enhancement" could end up all over your tortoise. And on its food also.

Hard wood mulch or cypress mulch is what I use outdoors.

No colored stuff. Find the natural hardwood mulch.

Hmm, I don't know how shopping in Canada differs from the US, but around here more substrates come into our home improvement stores this time of year since they fully stock the nursery/yard care/gardening section. I had paid $16 (yowch!) at a Petsmart for a small bag of sphagnum moss a couple months ago. Walked a couple blocks to a Home Depot and they brought in seasonal items so I found the same size bag (organic, too!) for $4 a piece! Since it is seasonal here, I will be buying up a bunch before the season ends!
