Hey,
I found a plant that looks a lot like dandelion in my yard but it has what look like thorns along the edges of the leaf. I am no expert on weeds so I was just wondering if it is dandelion or some other weed that has a very similar flower.

I don't think it is though I do think it is ok to eat. My dandilions have a soft leaf. I have several weeds that look like dandilion but the sap is milky. Also some of the big really prickly ones make me itch when I pull them. PM me your address if you want some GOOD dandilion seeds.

Ok...I THINK its prickly sow thistle. I sent a PM to Kelly in the U.K. She's awfully good at the weed I.D. Once we find out for sure what it is, I'll add it to our section on weeds.

I have these too. They can grow very tall if left alone. Are the flowers okay to feed?

* sorry, found the weed thread. Apparently they are edible!

Most thistles are edible, however they have millions of seeds and will over-populate your yard in no time.
I guess that won't be a problem if Speedy likes them. Is there any reason I shouldn't let them spread like a weed throughout my yard?

I would not spead thoughs. They will spread too much on their own and are a pain in the butt to get rid of.
