So I've had my redfoot tortoise for 3 months and she has always been moving about her vivarium eating living her best life but she has recently stopped eating unless hand fed and just burrows all the time. The only difference in circumstances is my brother has moved out so she has nobody there all the time. Is this normal or am I overthinking this ???

Was your brother feeding the tortoise?
They usually get excited if they see the person that they associate with food.
As long as nothing else has changed and you have your high humidity, no bright lights and a temperature of between 80 and 86, it is otherwise normal for a baby to spend a great deal of time sleeping and hiding.
What are you feeding?
Some foods like bright colored fruit can Park up a Redfoot.

No I've always been the one to feed him I feed him a variety such as carrots, peppers, cucumber, tomatoes, cactus pads and on occasion oranges (which he loves ) and the weekly pinky.
His temperature is about 83 with 85%humidity the light for the vavarium is an uncovered UV

Is it a compact coil or spiral uvb bulb?
Those can also cause irritation of the eyes and can be stressful.

I honestly don't see any blatant issue.
In fact, I think you've done a very good job of researching.
Keep the baby hydrated and hopefully his appetite will return in a few days.

Thank you much appreciated hopefully she goes back to normal soon
It’s good to offer weeds and greens. Cucumber is not great nutritionally. Tomatoes are high in sugar and should be given very sparingly.

Here are a few sites with food lists..

I co-run a Redfoot tortoise Facebook page, we get a lot of info from here The Tortoise Forum first and foremost, but there are others with menus they can suggest for your little one.

Redfoot can have a diet that consists of up to 60% fruit.
This would kill some other species.
Redfoot can process sugars. And therefore their list of what you can feed is very, very large.
It should be very easy to provide a large variety of foods no matter where you live or what time of the year it is.
