I built an enclosure out of pine and I just realized some people say it's bad. Will it be fine to use for my russian or no?

Greetings.

There are lots of imponderables here. Indoor (small) or large outdoor enclosure? Pine....well seasoned, or Pressure Treated boards? Back in the old days, all kinds of nasty chemicals (arsenic) were used to treat wood so it wouldn’t rot when in contact with the ground, wet, “the elements”. Fast forward to about 2003, the US Environmental Protection Agency and prob others outlawed those chemicals, so the wood companies/builders developed better new & improved ways to treat wood. Got rid of the toxic arsenic & used other chemicals.

It’s an indoor enclosure. I don’t think it’s pressure treated.

Also do you know of any good sealant for indoor enclosures? I’m having trouble finding one that’s safe for tortoises and for indoors.
