Hi my baby Leo has the number 5 on his shell. The breeder put it on there. Any suggestions on how I can safely remove it? It appears to be blue ink. Thanks for your time.

I have no experience with torts being written on. However, I think I would let it ware off.

Yeah I haven't touched it so I have been hoping it just wears off over time. Thanks

Ask the breeder what type of ink it is. Sharpie maker? Ball point pen? Polish? If you know exactly what it is then you may be able to figure out a safe way to remove it.
Like Wellington said, letting it naturally wear off is always an option, too.

The place where I got my tortoises from, puts nail polish dots on different scutes to differentiate between them. The nail polish has worn off of all of them except one (the shy one, who hides more than the others). I could probably remove it with nail polish remover, but I was worried, so I didn't.

I would guess that, over time, it will wear off.

It should wear off on it's own, but you can use a little dawn on a green kitchen scrubee to help. Keep the soap out of his eyes.
