Rain slams everything around me,
bathing life in a gloomy sea,
tiny droplets form on colored leaves,
emotion wells up inside of me,
I wish you were here to tell you I miss you,
the thought of you still makes me feel blue,
silver wisps of hair soft like clouds,
a hug so warm it would kill a frown,
long fingernails for that perfect backscratch,
warm memories... how could I be sad?
Truth is it happened so fast,
that warm sunny day standing on the grass,
I had glasses on to hide my tears,
the moment I knew this is what I feared,
I sat watching you in the hospital,
your body frail,
your words brittle,
your eyes pleading and your touch was weak,
I had prayed to God He wouldn't take you away from me,
that night was the first I had prayed,
I folded my hands and on my knees I begged,
but He already had sent an angel to take you away,
I swear you had visited before reaching Heaven,
to mend the heart that had been broken,
I heard your voice as a tear slid down my cheek,
you expressed your love and said you were proud of me,
you told me to rest my head and to fall asleep,
and in your heart my prayers would keep,
since then some time has past,
and oh has my life gone by fast,
I got married but you were there for that,
that nervous look on my face must have made you laugh,
in late December my daughter will be born,
and I know by you she would be adored,
to hear your voice just once more,
to tell you the things i didnt get a chance to before,
but for now I'll just stare into the stars,
wishing Heaven wasn't so far,
I'll lift my head up and keep pressing on,
wiping tears with thought of you being gone,
but the love you shared has kept me strong,
and has pushed me through days that have been too long,
every night you cross my mind,
the answer why I still cannot find,
I keep searching but must be blind,
My heart will never be empty,
forever and always you are in my memory.
