So, this is a kiddo that is temporarily boarding at my hospital. the owner has the husbandry allllll wrong (read: this dude and a Russian living together in a 20gal tank) and I want to make sure I give her exactly the right info. She said this kid is a Greek, but, while we see tons of torts in daily practice, almost no greeks among them, so I want to verify before I quote her anything.

It looks to me like an eastern hermanns tortoise. But I'm not positive

98% of my tort patient base is Leopard, sulcies, red foots, aldabras and russians, so my Greek/hermanns id knowledge is slim.

Eastern hermanns and greeks can be hard for people that aren't experts to tell apart sometimes. :/ It looks like it might be a Testudo Hermanni Boettgeri to me, but I'm not sure...the head looks a bit differently shaped to me but maybe it's just the angle. @HermanniChris should be able to help you out. There's also an excellent Hermann's identification video by him in the Hermann's section. You could compare your patient to the video and if it's not matching up, it's likely Greek.

100% Hermanns and a plastron shot will tell us if it's a Dalmatian or Eastern. It is definitely not a western and certainly not a Greek of any kind.

Definitely a male Eastern Hermann's tortoise (Testudo hermanni boettgeri). No doubt about it.
