Not understanding your wording completely. But I think you were wondering if a mesh screen would block the uvb. Yes it will. Use chicken wire or the fencing type that is called hardware cloth.

Use a heavy duty, blunt nose plier and bend them back.

What Yvonne said or cut it big enough that it fits over the enclosure and bend the edge down to fit over.
