I am considering a pair of leopards. Can you tell the genders?

I am considering a Leopard purchase but was wondering if you all can tell if this pair is a Male Female pair. I can't tell as the tails look pretty similar.

They really are to small to tell but if I had to guess if say a male (top) and a female (bottom).
My make looks identical to the top photo. He flashed me that how I know for sure he's a male ;).

They both looking male too me. The smaller one does have a smaller looking tail, but could also be too small to sex yet. How old are they? Also, do they have a concaved plastron (bottom shell)

He says he had them both scoped.

Ad:

Leopard Babcocki. Male and Female. Will be laying eggs for you within 2 years. They lay between 10-20 eggs per clutches and lay 3-4 times a year.

I'm asking 1200 for the pair. Will not ship. Local pickup only

He does have a breeding pair with babies this year and sulcata babies. About a 3 hour drive from me.

Still too young to be 100% sure. $1200 is way too much. Housing them as a pair is not a good idea.

1200 seemed steep to me considering their size. What would you all guess to be a fair price?

I noticed tortoise supply is selling them for 400 for juveniles

Juveniles of which type? I was told the ones Tyler had were SouthAfricans, which should cost way more than the regular leopards. I would also guess that Tyler's are not as pyramided, although I have not seen them. I just know Tyler.

I wouldn't be as concerned with the pyramiding as I would the shell shape appearing to be almost completely flat. Maybe it's just the quality of the photos, and granted there is pyramiding, but the shell shape doesn't look good at all to me.

The first tortoise is definitely a male, but I suppose I could be convinced that the second one is a female. I don't like the way the anal scutes look, but a better picture of the tail and supracaudal scute would help.

If he has any way of substantiating his endoscopy claim it would make a big difference, obviously, on offering a fair price. If he can't, I would just walk away from these ones if it were me.

P.S. Babcocki leopards are not "RARE".

Sounds like he's trying to sell these for what he paid for all of them. I'd pass on those. You can get an adult babcocki with a smooth shell producing for 1000 bucks and a male for around 350-550.

Thanks for all your help. I'd love to have one adult larger tortoise like a leapord or star. I get asked to speak at my child s school a lot. My Russians are great but thought it would be nice to have a larger pair. I have even converted my backyard shed into a heated tort house for the Arkansas winter. If you hear of a 4-5 year old Leopard or Star please tell Me and I'll watch the forum.

LR, I would not recommend a pair. Pairs seldom work out unless you house them separately, but then they wouldn't be living as a pair. If you want more than one get at least two females and just one male.

Yeah I have 2 Russians males and 6 females. And if they have issues I have the space to separate them. I have the space to do the same for two larger males and females.
