okay.
My red foot tortoise has jungle mix and coco soft mixed in and some moss on top.

I added more cocosoft today, and now my freaking humidity won't stay at 80 like it did yesterday and all last week. Now it's falling into the 50s. I'm starting to get mad because I've basically used all of my moss and I'm spraying the ever loving crap out of the enclosure.

Help ):

Is your enclosure open or closed. If it is open, you will continual be at the mercy of the surrounding air.
If it is closed, dump water in. Like you are watering a plant. Misting is not sufficient. You need the underneath layers to be wet.

I'll share with you what i do and if you wish to try it, I'll bet it works.
I use a layer of Orchid bark about 3-4". On top of that I use a layer of soft potting soil/compost. I pour some water into the corners. The bark absorbs the water and stays damp, but the top layer remains dry (ISH)
I have a cover that covers the whole top. Light is INSIDE the enclosure. I use an 18" 5.0 florescent tube. Sometimes I have to partially prop open the top.
The temps without any other lights or heat remain 79-87. And the humidity remains 75-95%. More to the high side of that.
