How Long Do Your Lamp Bulbs Last?

My Eastern Box Turtle loves her substrate (Coconut Coir). And she has her cave!

Bigger Tortoises/Turtles maybe be more problematic.

An EBT will not get very big. And she is getting used to me, but still hisses at me and pees on me occasionally.

EBT's are extremely tough reptiles, so she is spoiled.

Some North American Southwest Tortoises cannot be handled at all. The stress will kill them. In fact I think it's illegal to handle them!

Gopherus agassizii in the Mojave release their urine if you pick them up, they may not see water again for months...that is what kills them
Your turtle is not hissing at you. She jerks her head in and the air squeezes out and makes a hissing sound. Tortoises are not snakes, they do not hiss...

She doesn't 'hiss' at me very often now.

I'm surprised they don't bite.

I've seen her eat a spider! No problem with that.

Pets At Home have said that they will replace the bulbs for free as they go quickly. Daisy will go outside with Jacky when it's warmer and hopefully she can hibernate next winter.
