How can I tell the age of a sulcata

Hi guys
What's is the most effective way to find out the age of a baby sulcata
I recently adopted a sulcata
But he looks older than the one I already have

I would love to know the age because the vet clinic didn't have an idea

There's no way to tell. One can guess. I guess that the bottom picture is about three months and the top picture is a little under a year. It troubles me that the eyes of both tortoises are closed in the pictures. Plus they both look very dry.

My impression is the same as Yvonne's. They both look very dry. It could be that the tortoise that you have had for a while has been kept too dry it is affecting it's growth. The newer tortoise has been better hydrated and has had a chance to grow some. There is no definitive way to tell the age of a tortoise unless you know the hatch date.

Your new one has been kept too dry. A warm humid closed chamber and a few months of daily soaks should help a lot.

They retain the egg tooth until about 6 weeks, so yours is at least older than that.

I'm also concerned about the eyes. Are you using a coil bulb for UV?

I soak them everyday
Do you think it's the heat lamp its 100w
I have the zoo med uvb light
As far as the closed eyes they were sleeping
But other than that they always open and good
I will post more pics tonight
I really want to learn more about these guys

Sad to say my koopa has died
I feel sad I lost a valuable family member

That is to bad. What was the cause of death or the prior symptoms.
His shell got softer and he got slower and slept a lot we I took him to the vet he gave him a calcium shot told me to bring him the week after and he didn't even make through the week I feel bad like I let him down
