I'm sorry to hear that Houdini is going - you will miss him, I'm sure, and I shall certainly miss all your stories about him. What a fine chap he is !! I hope whoever has him will keep us informed about his adventures .

Gonna ship Houdini by shipyourreptiles.com, they send the shipping kit and box...they deal with FedEx not me...was recommended by Yvonne, who has experience using them...Houdini should be gone in a couple of weeks...

You should be getting the shipping box today. Of course, you're shipping him at your convenience on a Tues or Wednesday.

Oh wow will you be getting Houdini?
Can't wait. Stories & photos to be continued but I don't have the experience to say I"m smarter than Houdini, nor am I the experienced keeper as Maggie is. But maybe Maggie will have a little more time with Mary Knobbins & less time on the ladder & can get a bit of a respite.

It's really too bad I wasn't smarter than that little tortoise, he might do well here, if I would have figured him out sooner. I have spent a number of hours watching him and trying to figure out why he doesn't like me...it bugged the crap outa me...who does this little jerk think he is anyway??? So after a few months of just being with him...

he's very observant and really pays attention...

I don't think he's trying to escape at all...

well maybe...

We have fallen into a routine, he goes outside about 8 am...and he walks his perimeter, then has breakfast...
today's meal was some arugula, radicchio, a raspberry, a few blueberries, a couple blackberries, a hardbioled egg, and mushrooms....it is so weird feeding fruit to a tortoise...

too much personality...

to be continued...

What a thread. Wishing houdini "bon voyage" and good luck new owner. Add extra tape on the transit box :):tort::) . He really is very creative with his escape attempts but the first picture says alot and understand he needs constants checks.

Too bad you are on the other side of the country.
I'm sure I could've found him a place he could settle down at
He'll be closer to Florida than he is now.

Seriously, I don't have faith in Fed Ex. I have faith in the owner of Ship Your Reptiles. He has been in the reptile business for a long time. They've been pretty hands-on with me throughout my rantings. I credit Maggie with keeping me from blowing a gasket. I credit Maggie with taking a chance on a novice.

I"m going to need sound advice in keeping Houdini contained & safe while letting him live his life. He will be my only reptile, although I will continue to escort turtles across the road or away from banging their shells on our fence.

I'm looking forward to hubby taking over household chores while I watch Houdini. Yeah, right....like that's going to happen!! ROTFLMAO!!
