Are the hollow logs sufficient enough for baby sulcata or do I need to have a hot box also?

Do you mean humid box? Sulcatas need 80F temps and 80 percent humidity, so if your enclosure cannot maintain these you need a humid hide area for him. A log will not suffice. If though you have a closed chamber enclosure that stays warm and humid everywher then a log is sufficient.

Thank you! I have him in a 40 gal aquarium. My humidity is at 70. Im planning on buying coco coir to add more humidity.

You don't need a "hot box", but you do need a humid hide. Half logs don't get it done.

Move him to a bigger enclosure as soon as you can too. 40 is really on the small side, even for a hatchling.
