Hibernate

My tortoise normally hibernates ok but this year when l check him every couple of days he's back to the top of his hibernation box he about 20 years old

What species of tortoise is he? Where are you located? Just the general area...like nearest big city and state?

Did you do anything differently this year than in other years? Did he have time to empty his digestive tract before he hibernated?

Is his hibernation box at a place where the temp stays cold enough? Maybe 45° give or take.

I know I ask lots of questions, but that's the only way to try to figure out why he's waking up.
