hi guys, im new here, and i just order a tortoise today, im about setting up my tank, i have question about the LIGHT, do i need both uvb and uva light or just either one of them??
also, if i choose to use heat pad, do i still need heat lamp as well?

In the species specific section there are care guides for whatever kind of tortoise you're getting. Heat mats are not good. They cause burns. Heat needs to come from above. Tube UVB lights put out very little heat/UVA. Mercury Vapor bulbs put out both. Read the care guide.

Welcome to the forum. What type and age of tortoise are you getting? What is the size of your enclosure? Do you have pictures?

"Tanks" are usually not a good choice for tortoises (unless you're getting a baby). A full grown tortoise needs to be set up outside. We'll need a bit more info from you in order to give you better care informaion.
