Hi... First time poster and about a 2 week lurker. I really enjoyed reading though everyones post and picked up a ton of great info.

I have to admit to being a rookie with Torts and I will be getting my first this week. I still have to decide between a Sulcata or an Indian Star. I badly want a Sulcata but I live in NJ so winter housing as an adult could be a problem.

I'm sure that I'll have a ton of questions for you guys so I guess that we'll meet soon.

Hi Ace Double "o" 66: Welcome to the forum. Good choice to not get a sulcata in the cold country! It would be ok for the first few years, but when they start to outgrow the basement, you'd be in a world of hurt!

Hi... Yeah I was still going to try for one but I know that it'll be a burden in the long run and I don't want to treat a tort as a burden. How much of an area would an adult Sulcata need?

Well after looking at many Sulcata's and Stars I went with a Leo. That's a nice middle ground I guess in terms of look. I have a 6 week old on the way and pics should be coming soon.
