My name is Gemma and I'm from Salisbury, MA. I am mommy to my shell baby Rex. He is a Russian Tortoise and I love him to pieces! He was a rescue after being left outside of a pet store in a box of wood shavings :/ But he now has a loving home with me

Hi Gemma and well done,poor little thing,I have just inherited a Hermann,called Hermione.She has shell deformities due to being fed badly by her previous owner.Ive got to say,its a battle of wills at the moment,me trying to feed her the right stuff and her glaring at me because she wants her old food.Normally I would give in but her diet has to be corrected,I have to say though,I have given her little bits of what she likes.Good luck with your new baby

What kind of substrate are you using? Sand is bad because if injested, it causes impaction.
