Hi,

I have a 7 month old and just introduced a 2 year old thats the same size.

My 7 month is climbing onto the others back. Im not sure if this is aggression or just getting to know each other.

Is there signs i can watch out for incase i need to separate them.

Thanks :)

If the one climbing onto the other's back has a noticably longer/thicker tail, they might NOT playing "leap-frog"... ;)

Are you sure how young they are?

Ugh, I think there are dozens of posts on this forum recommending a quarantine period before introducing tortoises to each other, for fear of passing on viruses or microorganisms that can sicken or kill your tortoises.

When the size differential is too great, the tortoises need to live in separate environments so the more aggressive does not bully the more passive one into a life of fear, hiding and not eating.

Tortoises need a lot of peace, calm and predictability in their microclimate so they can settle in and grow and thrive for you.

Time to make some changes.

Hi Terry,
Thanks for the reply
Ive got certificates for them thats how i know their ages. I got them from the same place where they lived together (no need for quarantine)
I thought because of their ages that it wasnt mating.
Ill keep an eye on them for any funny business :)

Yeah, they can be "randy" lil' critters!

Probably too young to accomplish much, but merely practicing (** flashback to our collective sordid youth**...cue Bob Seger's "Night Moves". :D)
