Just been given a Hatchling, A tunisian greek, not sure if male or female.He/she is about 5cm long, How do i look after him/her,Substrate, food, etc etc. Never had a hatchling before?..
Well I would think it would be the same for any Greek really....best substrate would be aspen or mix of topsoil/playsand (70-30,50-50)
You can feed it pretty much the same as you feed Henri But thats all the info I can give Yvonne....others will help as the day goes along....just keep him warm in an enclosure
Here's a thread for you to read Yvonne I hope that helps a bit! http://tortoiseforum.org/thread-5356.html
If the name has to be male or female and not unisex, then you're going to have to wait to name your new baby for about 4 or 5 years. Its way too young to sex yet. But cute!!
Thankyou everyone, He/she is tiny. im quite afraid for her as she is so small,i keep lokking to make sure shes ok and eating, The names would be great stazz, thanx
What about Merlot (like red wine heehee, say it like Mer-lo) - I thought that was wuite cute and unisex hehehe. But I'll think of more for you Or Talon ?! Like a hawk's talons! Just thinking off the top of my head here now haha

Yvonne, no worries. Little Greeks are pretty much like big greeks only a few things need to be tweaked.
I like the name Nabeul or Tuni, or Tiny, in that order. But then again I have difficulty naming my own torts LOL.
Baby Greeks are not much different that larger Greeks. I prefer to have them on something I can keep the humidity up a bit.
I have my Hatchlings set up on turtle carpet until they are about a month old. Then I move them to Organic soil or Bed a Beast and sand 70/30 mix. I keep half of the enclosure moistened so the humidity is kept at about 70% on that half (ambient air humidity). The other half I keep dryer, this is usually the hotter side. I use a small ramped bowl for their water, it is actually a hermit crab water dish from Petco that I ruffed up the bottom with a little sand paper. I place this in the substrate so that the top is just barely over the substrate and I don’t keep too much water in there at first. I use a T-rex MVB 100 watt with a ceramic heat emitter for night time. Their temps I try and keep at about 95 under the heat lamp and 78 on the cool end during the day. At night I let the temp drop to about 68-70 for the hatchlings.
There are many Ideas on how to keep hatchlings this is just how I have done it and what has worked for me so far. I constantly try and tweak the environments my hatchlings are in and a Tunisian is a smaller tort than my Jordanians etc.. But generally if you have Tunisians (Mini, miya)
you will keep this baby the same way just not in the same enclosure as your larger ones.
Oh, did I mention it is quite the looker. It is a very pretty hatchling. Congratulation.
Oh thanks guys you are the best. I would never have known about this forum if it was for Twitter, I like all the names everyone has given, maybe we should do a vote..
