Edible bedding is a new one to me. I guess my only concern would be if you have a mold problem. The pellets should be fine, you might want to soak them in a little water just to soften them up a little.
Read the caresheets for herrmans here on the forum.

Thanks ray I think I would only put a small amount of the bedding in anyway and I will give the pellets a soak first thanks for the help

Hi Eadie, i also use these pellets, as Ray said you would need to soak them in a little water first.
As for the bedding, i tried this but it did in fact mould so i threw it away, i use coco fibre and orchid bark in my vivarium, it's great for humidity.

Nope, I have a Sulcata (Opo) who will be 5 yrs old in June. Just soak to soften a little. Don't use to much water.

Thanks Karen I've also ordered Coco coir and organic top soil
And think I'm going to get the orchid bark or is this too much 🤷🏼‍♀️

Greetings.

Im thinking “in general” it’s not a good idea to encourage a tortoise to eat its bedding (for a lot of reasons). The contents of the “bedding” look pretty tasty & provide a good variety of midc foods. I think I would use the bedding as a sprinkle on top of fresh foods. That really dried stuff might need a bit of a spritz as well to activate some aroma of fresh grasses/weeds/flowers. Good luck

If you have already bought the organic top soil. I would use for some plants around the house. Coco coir and orchid bark is all you need. Organic top soil really won't add any benefits to the substrate.

Hi and welcome,
This is the caresheet you need
https://tortoiseforum.org/threads/the-best-way-to-raise-any-temperate-species-of-tortoise.183131/
if you follow the advice re substrate, temps and diet etc there your tort should thrive.

Pellets are OK occasionally but leafy weeds should be their main diet. Of course in the UK we struggle with that over winter but it is possible to provide a varied diet with shop bought leaves. I use Aldi crispy salad bag mixes as my base then add things like pak choi, kale, spring greens etc in for variety. I can't wait for the weeds to come back.
My tort won't touch pellets even when soaked and softened. I bought him some Nutrazu which is the UK equivalent of mazuri (popular in the US) but he's not interested.
You'll find www.thetortoisetable.org.uk a useful guide to tort safe foods too.
