Help w/ type & gender of new tort

Hi Everyone. Could I get the group's opinion on what type of tortoise this is and the gender, please? I got the tort from a friend who could no longer keep it. Based on my limited experience, I thought it might be a male Russian.

P. S. - the white towel is just for the photo, not the substrate.

I believe it’s a Russian tortoise. Not sure if the sex

I forgot to include a photo of the plastron. In the picture, the tail is tucked very tightly but it is long and the cloaca is more of a slit than a circle.
