It absolutely, positively is not a western. Westerns are much, much different. It's an eastern Hermann's Testudo hermanni boettgeri.

You can find all you need to know about the differences by visiting my site: HermanniHaven.com

Thank you so much chis do you think she is a full eastern that’s what I was thinking she is but there are a few things that don’t exactly match easterns

No problem.
She definitely doesn’t have any western in her but there’s always that possibility that she could be part Dalmatian (T. h. hercegovinensis). Now, the Dalmatian is not currently accepted as a valid subspecies in taxonomy (it’s instead considered a geographical variant of the eastern), but that of course does mean she is not from parents that originate within the classic range of the eastern, if she is part Dalmatian. It’s always nearly impossible to tell these things with captive bred tortoises that haven’t been raised as naturally as they would in a different setting or in nature.

You mean for care? Care is identical for all 3 Hermann’s subspecies with only brumation periods being slightly different for some of the western Hermann’s forms.

Stick to my site and feel free to always get in touch with me through there. The most accurate and up-to-date info on all Hermann's tortoises will always be on the site.

Bearing in mind mine falls off (and often ends up upside down) when climbing up something an inch or two high I would defiantly say that’s too steep!
