'm thinking of having a sulcata. I'm researching about their habits and needs. Each time I have more difficulty etender foods that you should give.

I must be without a lot of fiber and that I must feed on weeds, in some topics say that 85% of FOO must contain kale given a say not. I'm confused.

Can you tell me what give your sulcata, and when the percentage range of food

Hi vitorlopes20:

Welcome to the Tortoise Forum!!

May we know your name and where you are:

If your sulcata is big enough to live outside, then allowing him to graze on grasses and weeds is the best diet. If he's still small enough to live indoors, then you can feed dark, leafy greens from the grocery store. Here's a nice list of foods that you can feed:

Welcome, when we had sulcatas, they would eat lots of grass, weeds, cactus, and various vegies.

Thank you.

Still do not know the size of my turtle, because I want to learn everything first and then buy.

I'm from Portugal is why my English is bad

This topic gave me that I had read, but seems to be contradictory to this http://www.sulcata-station.org/diet.html.

Because this one says that within the cabbage diet is 85% said another occasionally give my doubts, still says the spinach harm and the other says no.

Each time I am confused about the feeding,

I know I must give grasses, but could give concrete examples

What should I say,,,, I know I should vary, but in all the feeds or can I make a plan, for example the 2 x I º, 3 º y ... Sunday z. .... etc.

I hope to help

Thanks

If you are having a problem deciding what to feed a Sulcata, you might want to consider a different type of tortoise.

Yvonne gave you the link to what most of us Sulcata owners use to feed our tortoise. You have to decide for yourself what you want to use.

I think the difficulty is the differences in terms used in each language and possibly local common names.

Vitor, try this web page: http://translate.google.com/transla...pt&u=http://www.sulcata-station.org/diet.html
Vitor, tente essa página web: http://translate.google.com/transla...pt&u=http://www.sulcata-station.org/diet.html

It is the link above translated into Portuguese.

Vitor,

Everyone,
Even using the technology available and an understanding of syntax structure in Portuguese, I am sure the above is not perfectly translated. However, I believe it is essentially understandable. For those of you that only speak one language, imagine if 80%+ of the information you were seeking on the web was in an unfamiliar language. That is precisely the case for those that do not speak English. I applaud anyone brave enough to attempt to get assistance from a source in a foreign language. I hope understanding the desire to provide correct husbandry to the animals we care for deeply will instill in us a little patience and compassion for those seeking that assistance.

As a side note... For those of you not within 20 years of your demise, you may want to consider improving your Chinese language skills. It won't be long before the majority of the information available on the web will look like this:

My apologies in advance to Yvonne (emysemys) for the unabashed plagiarism...

BTW, if you try to translate this to English with an online translation service, part of it won't make any sense. It was translated by a human!

Thank you all.

Laura, yes I know I need plenty of space and this is no problem. I know the basics about the species, which made me more confusion was the food, but could now improve in that area.
