Heatlamp Explosion!

I was feeding the keeled box the other day when something dangerous happened. lol

The cage was formerly a rabbit enclosure, so it opens from the top. I sat the heat lamp down on its side beside the cage to get into it. I the misted the cage down....apparently a water droplet hit the bulb and the temperature change caused an explosion. Well the lamp was facing me so I got blasted. A bit of very hot glass landed right in my hand and hit me in the cheek. Luckily I wasnt injured...but more importantly neither was the turtle.:D

Wow I say you and the tort were very lucky, all that flying glass could have caused some serious damage. Glad your both alright..

Yup, that happens if you get those bulbs wet. Always something to be careful of!

I'm glad no one was hurt!

I use outdoor lights for my heatlamps so this doesn't happen. They also sell a turtle spotlamp for an unGodly price at the Petcos and stuff. I think it's called Turtletuff.
