Hi guys, anyone knows why there's bloated like 'air' in between the hind legs & tail where the softer skin are?
What's the cause for this?

Umm I'm not sure but I wouldn't think anything good :(
Maybe renal failure?
I mainly posted to bump it back up to the top so you'd get some answers.
Good Luck!

Bloated skin is bad news. Get it to a vet at once. From what I've been told, it's renal failure or it could be kidney infection. Kidney failure is a bad thing in humans requiring dialysis and transplant. For torts it's usually fatal.
Kidney failure occurs due to diet/hydration/insufficient heat. Not providing a basking spot or sunlight would affect their ability to digest the food properly, resulting in deficiencies.
Is your tortoise urinating daily or once every two days or once in 4 days to a week?
Reluctance to pee is a symptom of kidney failure.. The tort will hold the pee till it can't hold any longer and would release a whole lot of pee at one go after several days. They'll usually repeat this for weeks or mths till they eventually succumb to it's illness. The increase in their weight is due to the pee it is holding in. It does not mean it is gaining any healthy mass.

Vet said it's water retention so don't really have to worry that much.
Have to monitor on diet & more sun tanning.
Hoping for a speedy recovery..

OK this is just stupid. First of all my 2 Sri Lankans do this "all the time" when I soak them and kick their legs around and I never see it after that. I think it's only water retention. Sorry everyone on here tried to freak your out but I really don't see anything wrong here unless it's showing signs for severe discomfort or any other problems. When do you normally notice this issue?

Hiya Starry night. My ST are doing great till this moment. Eating great, poop & pee as usual too.
Because I've bad experience with ST hatchling in e past hence this time round I'm very cautious.
