These tortoises arrived to us today. There is inconclusive evidence at this point whether they are Libyan or Jordanian (thus one is named Libee and one Jordee), though leaning towards Jordanian (any further thoughts Danny or anyone?). There are 3 females and 1 male. All are long term captives. Here are 2 of them (2 in next message):

They are very nice Tim & Robin. :) I get to change my mind :p They aren't Libyans nor are they Jordanians. In all likelyhood the are "Golden" greeks. There is a but though :p. They also have some traits of Antakyan greeks, larger heads, more dark color on some of the heads. I have a pair of these and was never sure what to consider them. I've got a fertile egg incubating and it will be interesting to see what the hatchling looks like.
They do all match too :D

Danny,
You have got to be kidding! Would that be Testudo graeca antakyensis or Testudo graeca terrestris? It seems so difficult to be certain. So, would any hatchlings be simply "golden greeks" as it seems there is no positive ID for them. The guy we got them from swears they are very light or blonde Libyans (Testudo graeca cyrenicae). It only matters to us in what to call any potential hatchlings. We love them and are glad to have them. We think they are very pretty. The true color of them is like the photos of the male, the other photos were in artificial light and their real beauty does not come out. Come on sunshine, the torts want to go outside. :D

I always called mine Yellow greeks :D I think I can get a better idea when the egg hatches and I can compare the hatchling to Golden and Antakyan hatchlings here. That will give me a good idea of where they fall, but I'm thinking they are crosses with more Golden than Antakyan.
I know I have crosses with more Antakyan than Golden. The one hatchling I have of these looks to have some of each subspecies in it.

They are really beautiful. So, is that a normal adult size for a greek?
