Gigantic Urate

Kurma passed a huge urate today, will soaking him everyday prevent this from happening?

He gets almost every kind of lettuce (chicory, grass, arugula, red lettuce, leaf lettuce, you name it), Mazuri and fruit on occasion. He's also on antibiotics right now for an RI.

Soaking each day for at least an hour in a warm water bath will aid in much needed hydration....that is a substantial chunk....I would soak him for the one hour warm water soaks and make sure to spray his food down wet with water when you feed--this will also allow more water consumption with each bite....

I would try to get some mineral oil into a yummy bite sized special treat food so he gets some lubrication in his system--to kinda aid in any other nasties possibly following that stone....just something I would do if it was me...

So glad he was able to get that chunk out...whewwww..

Do all tortoises pass these? And how often? Mac is only about three months, and a leopard. What age do they start passing them? Thank you and sorry for the silly questions. Just trying to learn as much as possible

I have also never seen my torts pass urates. They soak everyday for at least 30 minutes.
