What does that mean to you, "Free Ranging"?

Do you mean they have a large outdoor enclosure? Or do you live in their native land and there are some locals that regularly hang around?

They are not wild tortoises. It is a parcel of land that was seeded with various edibles a few years ago. The tortoises live a wild life style. Rabbits recently moved in and are eating a lot of the red clover which is a little frustrating. There is a large population of alligator lizards on the land as well.

Is has definitely been interesting. I have another group of 3-4 year old hermanns and margies that I have been raising the same way but on a smaller scale.

I think that's awesome you choose to raise them that way. I raise my gulf coast box turtles in a very naturalistic enclosure and I wouldn't do it any other way.
