Here's Garcia, STILL following Brutus around a week after being introduced into Brutus' enclosure:

Awww... that is so cute. I have been thinking about getting Bowser, my sulcata, a friend. They seem like they are getting along great!!!

That is adorable. Do you see that behavior in the wild?

No, this is an artifact of being captive and conditioned to getting food from humans. When I kept Garcia quarantined before introducing him to Brutus' enclosure, I got him used to hand feeding. Now that he's in Brutus' enclosure, he somehow thinks that Brutus can feed him, just like the human hand did. So he follows Brutus around looking for "hand-outs."

Cute pics. Nice looking torts. Michael interesting how a behavior can be picked up in a relatively short amount of time. Like Garcia expecting food from Brutus. I wonder in time without hand feeding if that behavior will stop. and how much time in comparison to the amount it took to condition him with the behavior. Hummm just makes you think.
