I know he's gorgeous, he totally gets his beauty from me but if he's overweight I am not to blame.

Worrying about overweight isn't actually a good thing to focus on. Give the most varied and complete diet possible, plenty of room for exercise and a proper habitat. Worry if there is weight loss or no growth in a young animal.

The way you tell if a tortoise is fat is by how the skin and flesh pooch out up above his front legs. Your tortoise is just a little baby. He hasn't been alive long enough to have become fat.

...on the other side of the fat fence... Your tort is approximately 20 grams heavier then the average of the Red-footed, Yellow-footed and Elongated youngsters of a similar (5 cm +/- 0.2 cm) size for which I have metrics (n = ~50).

See the following post for a reference once it achieves a 9 cm SCL. As you may be aware, obesity affects animals in ways similar to that of humans with many of the same and other related issues.
