Dog house = Tortoise house?

It's very cold where I live, but my tort is so big I think the perfect habitat would be in the back yard, where there are plants and grass and everything for her to wander and munch! I was looking up ideas on how to make a warm enclosure outdoors, but when I was reading someone briefly said to use a big doghouse. How would that work? What do you think?

It's hard to get a big enough dog house where the light/heat source is up high enough so it doesn't burn the tortoise's back. Most of us build our own. Here's a link to my Sulcata's new shed:

Thats awesome!! If you needed to keep it at high humidity, would it damage the wood?

Probably not. I'm thinking about adding a humidifier to the Aldabran and manouria sheds. They're built the same way as Dudley's. If you're worried about moisture, you can always paint the inside.
