get a PowerSun 100W and hang it on a Zoomed Lamp stand. in that way you can adjust the height to get a 38-40C basking spot.
use a ceramic socket for your lamp fixture to prevent melting from overheating, use a fuse protected socket for safety and circuit protection. dont just buy those chinese knock off extension sockets from sham shui po

This is so true. People do this all the time with all sorts of things - puppies, tortoises,...

I have literally spent the last several weeks getting my indoor and outdoor enclosures set up and tweaking my lamps(height, timing) and rate of evaporation before I even bring my tortoise home. I'm probably being a little overkill, but you need to be up and running at the time you get it. Preparation saves lots of trouble(in lots of areas :) )
