Hello !
I just found this yesterday and I am freaking out. If you think it's serious, I will take nem to a vet on Monday.

More info:
I got nem 8/11. So it's been like 3 weeks.
marginated tortoise, around 3-4 years old
6 " long
The previous owner did put nem with another marginated tortoise, but they lived together for more than a year.
In a 4' by 2' indoor enclosure and gets sunshine in my veranda (window opened)
Looks fine to me, but what do I know? I am just freaking out. Moves around well, eat a lot, poop, bask, and hide. no soft shell.
I don't know what shell rots are supposed to look like(I searched and I see white stuff?) but I heard that marginated torts are more prone to it than other torts. The air humidity is like 60% on its own around here in the summer. I soak nem daily and ne does have a water dish.

Writing this just makes me more anxious. :(
Any suggestions?

I don't know much about margies, so I can't say if that's normal or not. Your torts are healthy looking and beautiful, though. Hopefully someone will know the answer.

It doesn't look like rot to me.... I home an expert can tell you for sure. I have seen that there is an over the counter (human) product that most suggest for rot, perhaps search "shell rot" to see if you can find it here on the forum. Save you a vet bill.

I don't see something wrong, but I'm not the most experienced forum member , I suggest waiting for a definite answer before applying any treatment :)

Thanks everyone. I did search for shell rot and it's not that. But I still don't know what it is... It could be just normal but I would really like to know if anyone knows what it is or has experienced this.
